Estimate only, using the 2025 rates and exemptions published by the Bexar County Tax Assessor-Collector. Your bill can differ: it doesn’t include a tax ceiling (65 and older or disabled), partial-year exemptions, or penalties. 2026 rates are added when the county publishes them.

How the Bexar County Estimator Works

The Bexar County Tax Assessor-Collector collects property tax for the taxing units in the county and publishes each one’s rate and exemptions every year. The estimator uses that list. It applies each unit’s rate to your value after that unit’s exemptions, then adds up every unit your property sits in.

Your estimate can differ from your bill. A tax ceiling for owners 65 or older or disabled, an exemption for part of a year, or a penalty isn’t included.

Who Sets What

Bexar Central Appraisal District sets the value. The Bexar County Tax Assessor-Collector sends the bill and collects the tax. The taxing units set the rates.

That’s why the value is the part to protest.

Bexar County Property Tax FAQs

What is the 10 percent property tax rule in Bexar County?

It’s the Texas homestead cap. A homestead’s appraised value can’t rise more than 10% a year, plus the value of any new improvements. It doesn’t apply to rentals or commercial property.

How can I pay less property taxes in Bexar County?

Make sure every exemption you qualify for is on your account, and protest the value every year. The rate isn’t protested. The value is.

When are property taxes due in Bexar County?

Bills go out in October. Taxes are due by January 31 of the following year.

Does the estimator work for commercial property?

Yes. Choose “Commercial property,” and no homestead exemptions are applied. For a commercial property, the value is usually the bigger question.
